IAB Accredits Architecture Prog of SUB

DHAKA: IAB (Institute of Architects Bangladesh) has assigned Accreditation Standards of IAB (ASIAB) to the B. Arch program offered by the Department of Architecture at State University of Bangladesh (SUB).

The SUB is now one of only six universities (public and private) currently having the honor of IAB accreditation which allows a graduate to work as a certified Architect, said a press release on Thursday.

It is worth mention that recently BUET has awarded equivalence status to B. Arch program of SUB that will allow admission of SUB graduates into BUET’s post graduate/M. Arch program.

The Alumni Association of Department of Architecture at SUB recently organized an open discussion on ‘Educational System of Architectural Schools in Bangladesh’ and ‘Architectural Professional Practice in Bangladesh’ at Emmanuelle’s Convention Centre, Shimanto Square (former Rifles’ Square).

Professor Dr Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of SUB attended the event as chief guest. Professor Khairul Enam, head of the department of Architecture chaired the discussion. Ar Shamsul Wares, Ar Nahas Ahmed Khalil, Ar Saif Ul Haque, Ar RafiqAzam and Ar Salauddin Ahmed participated were among other discussants.

It is worth mention that the accreditation is given only after ensuring quality regarding program function and infrastructural supports along with other issues that indicates the quality and functionality of the offered program.

Dr AM Shamim, President, BoT, SUB congratulated and thanked the faculties and the students of Architecture for their colossal endeavor to achieving this honor.
