Dog squad search along Myanmar border

DHAKA: The Home Ministry decided to use trained dogs to search suspects on two points of Cox’s Bazar border to stop the Yaba smuggling from Myanmar.

Besides, the joint forces consisting Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), police, customs and forest officials will be deployed at the key points of Marichha area on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf highway and Rezukhal area on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf marine drive.

Additional Secretary of Home Ministry Moin Uddin Khandakar confirmed the matter to banglanews.

BGB Director General Aziz Ahmed told banglanews that BGB is conducting drives to detain Yaba peddlers and

BGB already has made a list of the drug peddlers.

He also said that it will be helpful to detain drug peddlers with the using of dog squad.

On the other hand, Department of Narcotics Control proposed to set up check posts of joint forces on Ramu link road, Bangabandhu Bridge west bank, Daulatia Ghat and Ashuganj toll plaza by to control drugs peddling.

Cox’s Bazar BGB-17 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Hasan told banglanews, “BGB prepared to run the check posts. After receiving order and dog squad, the border forces will start duties in those check posts to control drug smuggling through Myanmar border.”
