Hundreds of children in Tungipara upazila of Gopalganj have echoed the historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

A total of 714 students from 102 educational institutions participated in various activities at the upazila helipad square on Thursday morning, under the supervision of Tungipara Upazila Parishad.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's constituency development programme coordinator Shahid Ullah Khandaker was the special guest while Tungipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Moinul Haque presided over the session.

The helipad ground transformed into a racecourse as children dressed in Bangabandhu costumes chanted, "The struggle this time is the struggle for our emancipation, the struggle this time is the struggle for independence."

Addressing the programme, former senior secretary Shahid Ullah Khandaker said that the young students will contribute to Smart Bangladesh realising the dream of Bangabandhu in the future.

“The children came to the programme memorising the nineteen-minute speech of Bangabandhu. That means they uphold the ideology of Bangabandhu in their hearts,” he said.

UNO Moinul Haque said that Bangabandhu has given the freedom to the Bengali nation by delivering the well-crafted weaving of 1,108 words from the heart.

“Therefore, the speech of March 7 has been imbibed in the young students to inspire them with the spirit of the Liberation War, patriotism and Bangabandhu's ideology,” he said.

Awami League Tungipara upazila unit president Abul Bashar Khair, vice-president Elias Hossain, General Secretary Babul Sheikh, upazila Parishad Chairman Solaiman Biswas and municipal mayor Sheikh Tozammel Haque were, among others, present on the occasion.
