A couple in Cox’s Bazar died due to landslides in Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila on Friday (June 21). 

The deceased are Anwar Hossain, 26, a muezzin of Cox’s Bazar Central Mosque, and his wife Maimuna Akter, 20 both residents of the Badsha Ghona area under Sadar upazila.

Local municipal councilor Helal Uddin quoted relatives as for the past few days in Cox’s Bazar residents were experiencing rainfall due to which mountain collapsed a house at Badsha Ghona.

The couple, who was asleep at the time, was trapped under the debris, he said, adding that later locals recovered their bodies from the rubble.

After the incident, locals rushed them to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital, where the doctor declared them dead, he added.
