A truck fell into the Turag River early Saturday (Dec 21) after the one-way Bailey Bridge, linking Dhaka's Abdullahpur with Gazipur's Tongi, collapsed.
However, no casualties have been reported, Banglanews correspondent reports.
Authorities have stated that an investigation is underway, and appropriate measures will follow.
Gazipur Metropolitan Assistant Commissioner (AC/Traffic-South) Md. Liaquat Akbar said there are two bridges and a flyover on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Tongi. Of the two bridges below, the Bailey Bridge heading to Mymensingh collapsed into the Turag River. At that time, a truck met with an accident, but there were no casualties.
Vehicles are going towards Mymensingh using the flyover and Kamarpara Road on this road, he added.
