Houses of Hasanat Abdullah, Amu demolished in Barishal

A group of over a hundred individuals used a bulldozer to demolish the residence of prominent Awami League leader Abul Hasanat Abdullah early Thursday morning in Barishal city.

According to eyewitnesses, the group arrived at Serniabat Bhaban, located on Kali Bari Road, around 12:15 am. They had brought along a bulldozer from the city corporation and began the destruction of the house.

Abul Hasanat Abdullah, a former Member of Parliament and president of the Awami League's Barishal district unit, lived at the property with his son, former Barishal city mayor Sadiq Abdullah. Abdullah is also a relative of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, adding to the high-profile nature of the attack.

After completing the demolition at Abdullah’s residence, the group moved to the nearby house of former minister Amir Hossain Amu on Bogura Road. By around 1:45 am, the bulldozer had arrived at Amu’s home, and the destruction began shortly after 2:00 am.
