DHAKA: A defamation case was filed against the editor of daily Prothom Alo Motiur Rahman and its two other journalists claiming Tk 200 crore as compensation for running a defamatory news item.

Engineer MA Rashid, founder of Karnafuli Ship Builders, filed the lawsuit with fourth joint district Judge of Dhaka on Monday morning.

Editor of Prothom Alo Motiur Rahman, also publisher, news editor of the paper and staff correspondent of Comilla were made defendants in the lawsuit.

Judge Abu Taher fixed March 10 as date of hearing of the case.
