Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali said due to intensified operations, law and order situation in the capital has improved. 

He also said incidents of mugging and extortion have notably decreased due to efforts poured by the police force.

DMP chief emphasized the need for collective cooperation to sustain this progress. 

He made these remarks while presiding over a coordination meeting at the DMP headquarters on Monday (March 24).

The meeting focused on reviewing overall law and order, ensuring safe travel for passengers, organizing Eid prayers smoothly, and managing traffic ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

The commissioner said that DMP has taken all necessary measures to ensure a festive and secure environment during Eid. 

He also underscored the importance of security awareness at both individual and institutional levels alongside police initiatives.
