A total of 28,965 people have received legal assistance through the Supreme Court's Legal Aid service, run by the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO), according to a newly published report.
From 2009 to April 2025, NLASO provided legal advice to 25,704 individuals and handled 3,261 cases, of which 2,086 were successfully resolved.
Initially available only at the district level, the service later expanded to the Supreme Court, legal aid cells, and prisons.
The initiative aims to ensure free justice for the financially disadvantaged under the Legal Aid Services Act.
