Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in various parts of the country over the next 24 hours beginning Monday (May 26) morning, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has said.
According to the Met Office, rain accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning is likely at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, and at a few locations in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.
The southwest monsoon has advanced into the Chattogram division, and conditions are favourable for its further progress across the country, the forecast said.
In addition, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas by Tuesday, the Met Office added.
Daytime temperatures across the country may remain nearly unchanged, while nighttime temperatures could drop slightly.
The highest temperature recorded on Sunday was 36.5°C in Feni, while the lowest temperature on Monday morning was 23.3°C in Tetulia.
Sylhet recorded the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours until 6 am Monday, measuring 140 millimetres.
