DHAKA: The Election Commission (EC) secretariat has suspended AKM Majharul Islam, the personal secretary of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed.

EC sources said that Majharul Islam was working as personal secretary of Acting Chief Election Commissioner Abdul Mobarak but he visited Cox’s Bazar without the permission of his boss.

Later, the Acting Chief Election Commissioner suspended him temporarily over the violation of discipline.  

But AKM Majhar said that he was not informed about the suspension order.
