GOALANDA, RAJBARI: Stormy wind forced to stop the ferry service at Daulotdia-Paturia river route on the Padma River at the upazila for three hours early Friday.
On-duty Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) assistant director general Zillur Rahman at Daulotdia told banglanews “A monsoon storm, began at 3:00am, making the route risky for vehicles at one stage.”
“Authorities announced halting to the service to avoid accidents; all ferries were anchored on the jetties at the both sides and the service resumed at 6:30am after the weather became normal,” he added.
Several hundreds night coaches remained stranded on the both sides of the river due to halt of the ferry services causing immense sufferings to the passengers.
