Liberation War history in Bashundhara Story writing competition

DHAKA: Country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group organized a story writing competition to awaken the spirit of the history of Liberation War among young generation.

Noted persons assumed that this competition would help the young people to know accurate history of the nation.

The prize giving ceremony of Bashundhara Exercise Book Story Writing Competition-2013 was held at the level-17 of Bashundhara City at capital’s Panthapath area on Friday.

The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University AAMS Arefin Siddique as chief guest, Chairman of SSC and HSC Education Board Prof Taslima Begum, Director-General of Bangla Academy Shamsuzzaman Khan, Editor of the Daily Kaler Kantho Imdadul Haque Milon as Chief Judge, Senior Advisor (Technical) of Bashundhara Group TIM Latiful Hussain, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Bashundhara Group Mostafijur Rahman, Advisor (Press and Media) of East West Media Group Abu Tayeb and Chief Marketing Promotion Officer Saiful Islam Helali were present there.

AAMS Arefin Siddique said that this sort of initiatives should be taken more to keep alive the accurate history of our liberation war among the young generation.

Our new generation should be attached about the sacrifice of 7-crore people of the country during the liberation war.

Imdadul Haque Milon said that Bashundhara Group is not only limited with housing business, but also organizing country’s largest media group.

Bashundhara is the leading business conglomerate in the country. The group has brought a revolutionary change in our country, he added.

Bashundhara Story Writing competition has created a new dimension to stimulate the patriotism and sprit of Liberation War among the students, he further said.

The young boys and girls have combined their views and history of liberation war of 1971 in the story writing competition, he added.

Mostafijur Rahman said that Bashundhara Group organized the competition as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Around four crores students write on exercise books, they should not be cheated, he added.

Bashundhara papers and exercise books are being sold in a reasonable price considering their future rather making profit, he added.

Abu Tayeb said that Bashundhara Group is an outcome of independence. This initiative was taken with a view to inspire the students with the spirit of independence.

However, the story writing competition is being held from 2013 where the topic of writing was Liberation War. There were five groups of students of Play Group to College level who took part in the competition.

First prize of the competition is Prize bond of Tk 50,000, Tk 30,000 for 2nd place and Tk 20,000 for 3rd place respectively. Moreover, Prize bond of Tk 5,000 are available for special places. The guests provided the prizes, certificates and crests to 140 winners of the competition.

There were five groups and each group represented three winners as first, second and third position.

The winners of group ‘A’ are Sinthia Binte Matin (Dhaka) first, M Al-Amin Farhad (Dhaka) second and Wasika Islam (Nilphamari) third.

The winners of group ‘B’ are Farha Binte Ajhar (Mymensingh) first, Tahsin Azdi Nihan (Dhaka) second and Mushfiq Mahabub Fardeen (Dhaka) third.

The winners of group ‘C’ are Delwar Hossain (Dhaka) first, Sifat Binte Alam (Comilla) second and Jannatul Ferdousi Shimu third.

Group ‘D’ winners are M Ramij Uddin Tuhin (Bhola) first, Maskura Jannat Mim (Mymensingh) second and Sumaia Farzana (Faridpur) third.

Group ‘E’ winners are Shah Ashique Ahmad Abdullah (Chittagong) first, Nayan Kumar Rudra (Dhaka) second and Umme Sayma Pasha (Chittagong) third.
