Three killed as bus hits autorickshaw in Natore Road accident in Natore

Three passengers were killed and two others injured when a passenger bus rammed into a CNG-run autorickshaw in Baraigram upazila of Natore district on Monday afternoon (October 6).

The accident occurred around 2:15 pm in the Gunaihati area along the Bonpara–Pabna highway. Two of the injured were later taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment.

According to Bonpara Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ismail Hossain, a Kushtia-bound passenger bus from Bonpara collided head-on with the autorickshaw, crushing it on impact. “Three passengers of the autorickshaw died on the spot, while two others were injured,” he said.

Police and fire service teams rushed to the scene, rescuing the injured and sending them to a nearby hospital. The bodies of the deceased have been recovered and taken into police custody.

The victims’ identities had not been confirmed as of Monday evening. The bus involved in the crash has been seized, but the driver and his assistant fled the scene. Police have launched an operation to apprehend them.

The bodies are being sent to Natore Sadar Hospital for autopsy, and legal proceedings are underway, the OC added.
