KHULNA: Keeping some 209 government primary level schools shut, Khulna-5 constituency Member of Parliament also State Minister for Fisheries and Animal Resources Narayan Chandra Chanda was felicitated in the district. 

Dumuria Primary school teachers and Upazila Primary Education Department jointly arranged the felicitation programme for the state minister on Saturday in Dumuria Upazila.

Following the programme the schools remained closed; as a result 40-50 thousands students could not join in the classes on the day. 

Besides, teacher’s attendances were taken in the felicitation field.  

On the other hand, the guardians of the students expressed outrage over the incident. 

Upazila Primary Education Committee president also Dumuria Upazila Chairman Khan Ali Munsur told banglanews, “Teachers did it to get the favours of state minister which is not fair. The felicitation would be held during holiday or afternoon.”

Confirming the matter Upazila Acting Primary Education Officer Sumanta Kumar Poddar told banglanews, “Every Headmaster of the school has a reserved holiday and as the part of the holiday the schools were kept closed.”
