No certificate to some RMCH interns

RAJSHAHI: Certificates were not issued for some interns of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for their dissatisfactory performance.

Around 20-22 interns of the hospital met with the head of the department applying for their certificates Saturday.

The authority of RMCH refused to provide certificates to them.

Medical sources said that the High Court issued a rule to RMCH authority for attacking journalists and refusing to give treatment.

Deputy Director of RMCH Dr. ASM Barkat Ullah said that the interns get certificates if they pass in all the exams and successfully accomplish the internee period. After vetting all the procedure the heads of the departments recommend to the authority to issue the certificates. “We have not got any recommendation for the students,” he added.

Earlier on Saturday, journalists held a program requested Rajshahi and Dhaka university vice-chancellors and the authorities concern not to provide certificates to them who were involved in the attacks.

The journalists also demanded not to provide the intern doctors who were related to the repression of journalists. Moreover the journalists urged to bring the guilty intern doctors under speedy trial.

An investigation team of 13 members led by Professor Dr. Ekramul Bari, was formed to reveal the details of the incident.

The Director of RMCH Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin said that the High Court rule is being processed and the certificate will be given to the interns if they will be found unoffending after an investigation.

The High Court wanted to know about the development of the case.

The Director-General of the Health Ministry and Director of RMCH were suggested to inform about the updates to the court by May 25.
