DHAKA: Self-exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen has been diagnosed with breast tumors at a hospital in New York, which is supposed to be cancer.
Taslima herself disclosed the information on Sunday evening in her twitter account.
She twitted that the doctors found the tumors ‘quite big’ and advised her biopsy to check on possible malignancy.
The biopsy report is expected to come on Monday.
In the twit, Taslima expressed her affection to cat Minu and wrote “Dear India, if I'm diagnosed w/ cancer tomorrow & if I die,pl take care of my cat Minu. She is the best cat in the world (sic).”
The writer also appeared very worried because her mother had died of cancer and a brother was currently undergoing treatment for cancer in New York.
Taslima, also a physician, left Bangladesh in 1998 after country’s religious fundamentalists expressed their ire for her novel "Lajja" (shame).
She has been living in India and several western countries since then.
