BRAHMANBARIA: Sramik-Malik Oikya Sangram Parishad has withdrawn transport strike, which was called on demand of six-point, after 11 hours.
This withdrawal made the transport haulage normal on Dhaka-Sylhet-Chittagong and Comilla-Sylhet roads
Owners and Workers association, after a meeting with the local administration at the deputy commissioner’s office, withdrew the strike.
However, sufferings of the passengers knew no bounds for the daylong strike.
Earlier, the road communications on Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet routes halted from morning after indefinite strike called by Brahmanbaria District Transport Owners Association.
The strike was enforced to press home their demands to stop plying of the locally-made shallow pump-run vehicles, known as Nasiman and Kariman, and other illegal three-wheelers on the roads.
The leaders of the organization said that innumerable auto-rickshaws were plying on the district highways which created road accidents.
The authority was requested for several times, but no fruitful result was seen in this connection. That’s why the organization called the strike.
