DHAKA:  Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya on Thursday asked to provide some TK 20,000 to the families of each victim who died in the Meghna launch capsize. 

The minster mourned the deaths caused by the accident and ordered the local deputy commissioner in this regard, said a press release of the ministry on Thursday night.


At least 13 people died and dozens went missing when MV Miraz-4 capsized in the Meghna River after it was caught in a 3-minute Nor’wester at Gazaria point of the river at 3:00pm.

District Deputy Commissioner Saiful Hasan Badal confirmed the recovery of 13 bodies to banglanews.

Rescue operations are underway, which is being interrupted by heavy darkness as the night deepens.
