2 police officers closed

GAZIPUR: Two police officers of Joydebpur thana of the district were closed to the police lines on charges of taking bribe on Thursday late night.

The officers are Sub-Inspector Anwar Hossain and Assistant Sub-Inspector Johirul Islam.

The duo may be arrested anytime, if case is filed against them in this connection, police sources said.

Sources concerned said, “Anwar took some TK1.17 lakh from one Bhulu Mian. Later, the victim, also the neighbour of incumbent Inspector General of Police, complained the matter to the IGP.”

“The police boss directed the district police concerned to give back the money and closed Anwar to the district police lines.”

In another incident, “ASI Johirul took TK 50,000 cash, TK, 1.5 lakh in check and TK 2 lakhs from a vendor through singing on a stamp.”

“Being informed, district superintendent of police called the victim and took his statement. Later, the ASI was closed to the police lines as he found guilty.”

ASI Johirul gave the money along with stamp back to the SP at 11:30pm Thursday.

If the victims lodged cases against the two police officers they will be arrested, according to the sources closed to the police lines.

Joydebpur thana second officer SI Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
