DHAKA: Dhaka Division Transport Owners and Workers Federation called off the indefinite transport strike, started on Tuesday in eight districts, including Dhaka.

The other districts are Dhaka, Gazipur, Tangail, Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Sherpur, Jamalpur and Netrokona.

The announcement came after a meeting with Communications Minister Obaidul Quader as he assured them to meet their demands.

Dhaka Division Transport Owners and Workers Federation Conveyer and FBCCI Director Aminul Haque said, after getting assurance, they decided to postpone the strike from Tuesday evening 6:00pm.

He also said they would hold a meeting in this connection at divisional commissioner office here May 29.

Dhaka Division Transport Owners and Workers Federation called the strike to press their 6-point demand, including withdrawal of the Netrokona Deputy Commissioner Dr Abul Kalam.
