2 DU students held over kidnapping

DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Law enforcers detained two students of Dhaka University (DU) from Sir Salimulla (SM) Hall on Tuesday evening for their alleged involvement in abduction of a salesman.

The detainees are Shuvo, 4th year student of Sociology Department and Alamgir, a master’s student of World Religions and Culture of the university.

AM Azad, Proctor of DU said being informed they went to room no-68 of the hall and found the kidnapped man and they detained the duo.

Assistant Commissioner Shibli Noman of Ramna Zone, Officer-in-Charge Sirazul Islam and DU proctor were present during the drive.

Rescued salesman of Kazi Manufacturing Company, Sohel, said Shuvo and Alamgir kidnapped him when he was going in front of the hall and took him to the room.

Legal step would be taken according to the University Act, Proctor added.
