BARISAL: Two minor girls drowned in a pond at Fullosree village of Bakal union under Agailjhara upazila of the district on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Poli, 7, daughter of Siraj Mollah, and Mim, 8, daughter of Shahjahan Talukdar.

Sources said that the victims were playing near a pond adjacent to their house and at one stage, they fell down into the water of the pond and drowned.

Later, locals rescued them and sent to hospital but the victims died on the way of hospital.

Agailjhara Thana Officer-in-Charge Sazzad Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
