SATKHIRA: Ringleader of a robbers’ gang was killed and two police personnel were injured in a reported gunfight during a transport robbery at Chaygharia on Satkhira-Jessore road early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Islam Morol, 45, son of Yakubbar Morol, resided at Patharghata village under Sadar upazila of the district while the injured policemen are Nurul and Shahidul, constables of Satkhira Sadar Thana.

Police said that they have seized a shooter gun as well as three choppers from there.

Police sources said, acting on secret information, police launched a drive as a gang led-by Islam was planning for robbery on public transport.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, Robbers started firing on them, sources added. In self-defense, police also retaliated with gunshots that triggered to the gunfight.

Ringleader of robber gang died during shootout while his cohorts fled away.
