321 buildings found vulnerable

FROM JATIYA SANGSAD: Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) spotted some 321 buildings as vulnerable in the capital Dhaka.

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain made the disclosure while addressing the parliament on Sunday. 

He told the House that a list of the buildings was sent to Dhaka City Corporation to take necessary steps.

In response to another query from lawmaker Nurjahan Begum, the minister said there are 9,565 abandoned houses around the country. Among them 6,467 buildings are in Dhaka and Narayanganj.

There are 228 abandoned buildings in Rajshahi, 7 in Natore, 16 in Chapainawabganj, 30 in Naogaon, 153 in Pabna, 10 in Sirajganj, 40 Bogra, one in Joypurhat, 1363 in Khulna, one in Bagerhat, 92 in Jessore, 507 in Kustia, 27 in Chuadanga, 353 in Chittagong, four in Sylhet, 42 in Rangpur, 223 in Nilphamari, 108 in Lalmonirhat, 11 in Kurigram, 15 in Gaibandha and there are 378 abandoned houses in Dinajpur. 

The houses were allotted to the families of Martyred and injured freedom fighters.
