DHAKA: Special security measures have been taken at the important points of the capital since Monday midnight over the verdict of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami.
Visiting Shahbagh, Doel Chattar, Bangabazar, secretariat and Motsyo Bhaban road near High Court area from 12:00 am to 6:00 am Banglanews team noticed huge law personals were deployed in the areas.
The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), detectives, intelligence are also active to avoid any unwanted situation.
While talking to a police near High Court at midnight, he said more than hundred police were deployed here and others would join them in the morning.
Mir Rezaul Karim, Joint Commissioner (Crime) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said the police will remain alert over the verdict.
Legal and Media Wing director ATM Habibur Rhaman said to banglanews that on this day of verdict RAB has taken special measures to avert unwanted situation.
Sources said International Crime Tribunal (ICT)-1 is set to declare the verdict of the case that filed against Nizami for crime against humanity during liberation war. As earlier, tight security measures have been taken for the matter. Police have remained alert on whole city.
DMP authority ordered all police stations to keep the situation under control as if none could conduct subversive activities.
DMP sources said the security was also beefed up in Moghbazar, Paltan, Khilgaon, Mirpur, Jatrabari and Dhanmondi area of the capital.
Following the verdict special security system was taken important points around the country like Chakaria and Ukhia of Cox’s Bazar, Sunamganj, Rajshahi.
