KHULNA: A listed terrorist was shot dead in a gun battle with police at Thukra village under Dumuria upazila of the district on Saturday dawn. 

The deceased was identified as Litu Sardar, 35, son of Rezaul Sardar of the village. 

Dumuria Thana sub-inspector Khairul Bashar and Nazrul Islam said police operated a drive at Litu’s house in the dawn to arrest him as he was accused in seven cases including murder. 

Sensing presence of the law enforcers, Litu’s cohorts attacked them, prompting the police to fire back, triggering the gunfight. 

Litu was caught in the line of fire while his associates managed to flee the scene and two police constables injured. 

Police recovered a shooter gun and a locally made gun from the spot, he added.
