DHAKA: Holy Ramadan will begin Monday as the moon was not sighted anywhere in Bangladesh on Saturday evening, National Moon Sighting committee declared.
The announcement came after the Committee sat in a meeting at the auditorium of Islamic Foundation (IF) at national mosque Baitul Mukkarram in the capital after the Magrib prayer.
Religious Affairs minister, also the committee chairman, principal Matiur Rahman presided over the meeting where 16 others members attended.
Committee secretary Chudhury Mohammad Babul Hasan, IF director general Shamim Mohammad Afzal and Baitul Mukarram khatib professor Mohammad Salahuddin, among others, were present at the meeting.
