THAKURGAON: Four people were killed as lightning struck them in Pirganj and Haripur upazilas Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Dobir Ali, 45, of Bhabanipur village and Jewel, 25, of Bhamda village of Pirganj upazila, Fazlur Rahman, 38, of Bhaturia village and Anowara, 50, of Falora village of Haripur upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirganj Thana Murshedur Karim and OC Majibur Rahman of Haripur upazila confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Locals said that Dobir Ali killed by lightning when he was catching fish in a pond in the area around 11:30 am and Jewel was hit by thunderbolt around 11:00 am while working in his land.

Fazlur killed by the strike of lightning around 8:30 am when went to the field with cattle and Anowara died of heart attack hearing the bang of the thunderbolt around 8:45 am.
