Govt to stop BD-Rohingya marriage

DHAKA: The government is taking initiatives involving local people to stop marriages of Rohingyas to local people.

Besides, the government will make a census of Rohingyas and send them to their country. 

The Bangladesh government is taking the initiatives by using bilateral relations with Myanmar.

The illegal Rohingya immigrants will be detected in every district with the coordination among law enforcers and intelligence.

The upcoming convention of Deputy Commissioners will also discuss about refugee crisis.

DCs from 64 districts have already recommended necessary suggestions to solve 307 problems. Following the tradition, these suggestions have submitted to the cabinet.

Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner has recommended stopping marital relations between Rohingyas and Bangladeshi people.

According to the recommendation, Rohingyas are being involved in crimes after wedding local people.

A foreign ministry official said that the Rohingya issue has gradually been a burden to Bangladesh. Numbers of illegal immigrants are increasing day by day. These illegal people are involved in marriage with local people to be permanent in the country.

The official further said that since there is no opportunity of getting legal jobs, most of the Rohingyas are now involved in illegal activities, particularly in arms and drug businesses. They are also involved in many crimes including smuggling, kidnapping and robbery.

According to the official, using Bangladesh’s bilateral relations with Myanmar, the government is trying to send the illegal immigrants to their own country.

The government data shows that 25,045 refugees from Myanmar are staying in Bangladesh. 

The numbers of illegal immigrants from Myanmar to Bangladesh are now over 200,000. They are blackening the image of Bangladesh by involving in different kinds of criminal activities.
