75 Bigha land recovered from India after 66-yr

CHUADANGA: Bangladesh has recovered around 75 bighas land, which India enjoyed as occupied property for last 66 years, along with Benipur border area of Jibonnagar upazila of the district.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel also distributed the land among the cultivators on Saturday noon.

In a press release, Chuadanga-6 BGB Director Lieutenant Colonel SM Moniruzzaman informed that a total of 75 bighas land went into India’s possession in 1949 after the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947.

SM Moniruzzaman also said that as steps to recover that land from India’s occupation, several times he had met Indian Land Affairs and Local administration and BSF.

On May 4, BSF returned the land to BGB that they distributed among farmers, he added.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (revenue) of Chuadanga Abu Said, Additional Director of BGB Major Anwar Zahid, among others, was present in the press meet.
