DHAKA: Speaker of the 10th parliament did not give ruling to stop undemocratic behavior and unparliamentary words by the lawmakers of ruling and opposition benches during parliament session.
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) disclosed this at a report on ‘Parliament Watch: First Session of 10th Parliament’ at Brac Centre Inn in city’s Mohakhali on Monday noon.
The reports said in the thanks giving session on President’s speech some lawmakers used vulgar and unparliamentary words.
The vulgar and unparliamentarily words widely were used in the criticism of former opposition BNP.
After reading the report, TIB executive director Iftekharuzzaman said present parliament has turned with a new look. There is no basic character of the ruling and opposition. Opposition has no own independent identity.
He also said in the first parliament the number of businessmen lawmakers were 18 percent which are now around 60 percent. As a result, any bills for the interest of the businessmen have been passing with a few minutes in the parliament.
