7 held with 119 gold bars at Shahjalal

DHAKA: Customs authorities detained seven people along with 119 pieces of gold bars from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city on Sunday.

The detainees are Jashim Uddin, Amir Hossain, Rashed Chowdhury, Md Nazim, Salauddin, Lokman Bhuiyan and Anwar Hossain.

Confirming the matter, joint-commissioner of Customs Kazi Md Zia Uddin said “they were arrested at around 2:00 pm when the officials recovered 119 pieces of gold bar weighting 14 kg after searching them.”

They were coming from Sylhet on a flight of Bangladesh Airlines, he added.
