2 Bangladeshis held on Hili border

DINAJPUR: Police detained two Bangladeshis from Hili border under Hakimpur upazila of the district when they tried to intrude into Indian territory on Monday.

The detainees are Rais Uddin, 32, son of M Rashid and Altaf Ali Huddu, son of Ashraf Ali. Both hailed from Nilphamari’s Syedpur area.

Sources told banglanews that they were detained by the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) around 12:30pm.

However, confirming the matter, BGB Hili check post camp commander Abdul Hamid said, “BGB members detained the duo from Churipatti playground area on Hili border when they were trying to intrude into India illegally.”

The detainees had already been handed over to Hakimpur Thana, he added.

Moreover, police filed a case against the detainees in this connection.
