TANGAIL: Some 15 people have been infected by Anthrax in Uttar Norilla, Norilla and Khandanpur villages under Dhanbari upazila of the district.

Local sources said they were infected due to eating infected beef.

They said Abdus Baset of Uttar Norilla, A Hamid and A Salam of Khandanpur slaughtered five sick cows and sold meat cheaply.

Poor villagers were infected after eating that meat, they added.

Tangail District Livestock Officer Dr Binay Kumar Nag told banglanews that there was nothing to be panicked for becoming infected in anthrax.

Proper treatment can cure the disease, he added.

He also urged people not to eat beef without testing meat of sick cows.
