20,000 people marooned in N’ganj

RUPGANJ, NARAYANGANJ: Around 2,000 people have been marooned due to downpour and water logging in 12 villages of Tarab union at Rupganj upazila of the district.

Local people complained that the water logging created due to insufficient drainage system, no pump machine to remove water as well as road construction over canals.

However, Gandharbpur, Kahina, Naogaon, Shantinagar, Rupashi, Debi Karngop and other villages affected by flood for heavy downpour and flow of industrial waste water.

On the other hand, acres of landmass remained useless due to water logging. 

Tarab Municipal Mayor Shafiqul Islam Chowdhury told banglanews: “Thinking the sufferings of people we are trying to remove water loggings.”
