Japan PM pays tribute to Bangabandhu

DHAKA: Visiting Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Saturday paid tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman placing floral wreaths at Dhanmondi-32 in city.

He placed the wreath around 2:45pm and signed the condolence book after visiting the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum here.

Earlier, Abe, along with his 150 entourage members, including a 50-member high profile business group, also visited the National Mausoleum at Savar to pay tribute to the martyrs of country’s liberation war.

The Japanese premier landed here at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 12:50pm on a two-day official visit.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received Abe at the airport.

Abe was given a guard of honor and greeted with flowers at that time.

Sources told banglanews that he will deliver a speech at a Japan-Bangladesh Economic Forum program at Pan Pacific Sonargoan Hotel.

This visit is taking place within three months of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Japan in May this year.
