Foreign medicines seized at Shahjalal

DHAKA: A large cache of foreign medicines has been seized from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in city on Wednesday.

Customs intelligence and investigation directorate sources said the medicines were found at a luggage of a female passenger, who came from New York.

Dhaka customs senior assistant commissioner (preventive) Ruhul Amin and assistant commissioner Jewela Khanam said the price of the medicine is about Tk 11 lakh.

Jewela Khanam added that they seized the medicines from Nasrin Sultana, who arrived at Shahjalal around 9:30pm.

She added: “Customs intelligence and investigation directorate found these medicines after scanning her luggage over suspect.”

According to the sources, the medicines, which were brought for elderly persons’ use, will be handed over to the custom depot authorities.
