COX’S BAZAR: Three people were killed and two others injured as lightning struck them at Chakaria upazila in the district on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as  Ali Ahmad, 48, of Medhakachchhapia of Dulahazra area, Nurul Huda, 40, of Paglir Bill of Khutakhali, and Ahad Ali, 36, of the same area.

Chakaria Thana Officer-in-Charge Probhash Chandra Dhar told banglanews that the thunderbolt suddenly hit the five people while they were gossiping at a tea stall in the area around 1:00pm, leaving three dead on the spot and two others injured.

The injured were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
