BENAPOLE, JESSORE: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB-23) personnel detained 23 Bangladesh nationals, including men, women and children, while crossing the frontier illegally on Friday night.

The detainees were handed over to Benapole Thana.

Acting on a tip off, members of BGB Battalion-23 raided in Putkhali area on Friday night and nabbed the persons who were trying to go to India illegally.

But no suspected traffickers or brokers involved in this act were arrested as they fled the scene sensing the presence of BGB men.

A case was also filed against the traffickers.

However, the detainees will place before Jessore court on Saturday noon.

On duty officer of Benapole Port Thana Sub-Inspector Motiar Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
