DHAKA: The cabinet division has already prepared all the documents required for removal of post, telecommunications and ICT minister, Abdul Latif Siddique on Saturday.
The cabinet division remains open on the day, despite it being a holiday, to finalize all the official steps regarding the matter.
It is just a step away from President Abdul Hamid’s approval. Once the President approves, the Cabinet will issue a gazette notification on his removal.
Cabinet secretary Mohammed Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan came to the secretariat at 10:00am to finalize the papers.
The papers will be sent to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister will then make a recommendation on the file, which will then be sent to the President for his approval, said Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan.
Earlier on September 29, the minister said he was against Hajj and Tablig and that the hajj is wastage of valuable money and manpower.
Latif Siddqui made the remarks at a view exchange meeting with expatriates of Tangail living in New York at a hotel at Jackson Heights in New York.
He also criticized about prime minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and insulted journalists in the program.
Siddique went to the USA as part of Hasina’s entourage for the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The Prime Minister decided to remove him from his post following his absurd comments and conveyed that to the Cabinet Division.
However, after his controversial comment the religious people showed a widespread protest against him.
