DHAKA: Dainik Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haque Milon and Dainik Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, on Tuesday in New York, urged the journalists to work unitedly for the development of the country.

They made the plea while addressing a seminar ‘Literature and News Papers of Bangladesh’, organized by America-Bangladesh Press Club here in the evening (New York time).

Terming the bifurcation of journalists as harmful to society, Imdadul Haque Milon, who is also a noted novelist said, “The split among the freedom fighters, teachers and writers is a bad sign and not wanted at all.”

He added: “Both journalists and Litterateur works on the conscience of the society. They work to build the country and this is why they need to stay together.”

However, Naem Nizam blamed the journalist leaders of the country for this bifurcation and said, “Most of the journalist leaders who are leading the journalists now were never journalists. Some of them are from relatively unknown news papers.”

He also alleged that these leaders help in continuing the split rather than mitigating them.

With America-Bangladesh Press Club President Nazmul Ahsan in the chair, the seminar was also addressed, among others, by writer and media personality Belal Beg, journalists Anwar Hossain Manju, Mainuddin Nasser, Lablu Ansar, Kazi Shamsul Haque, Ahmed Musa, Sharif Sahabuddin, Mujahid Ansari, Mir Shibli, Tawhidul Islam, Sanjiban Kumar, Bangladesh Society President Kamal Ahmed, businessman Sayeed Rahman Mannan and Tareq Hasan.
