Outlaw killed in Khulna ‘Gunfight’

KHULNA: An outlawed man was killed and four police men were injured in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Kodla Gazir intersection in Terokhada Upazila of the district on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Babul Sheikh, 30

Sources said that Babul with his cohorts snatched Tk 15 lakh from a businessman and tried to flee the scene. Then locals caught them red-handed and handed over to police.

Later, police conducted a drive to recover arms around 10:30pm and at one stage, the cohorts of Babul Sheikh tried to snatch him and opened fire aiming law enforcers.

In retaliation, Police also fired back which triggered a gunfight, leaving Babul Sheikh dead and injured four policemen.

Confirming the matter, Terokhada Thana Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam said that Babul Sheikh was wanted in 14/15 cases.
