Pabna cops killings: One more accused held

PABNA: Police on Friday night arrested another person from Savar on the outskirts of the capital for his alleged involvement with the killing of three cops.

Officer-in-Charge of Bera Thana Sheikh Zillur Rahman confirmed the arrest. The arrested was identified as Aiyub Ali, 35, son of late Joynab Mollah at Daspara village in Bera upazila.

“Aiyub is a cadre of a banned extremist outfit. He was one of the 11 members of the killing mission,” Zillur Rahman said.

Police arrested Aiyub from Amin Bazar area of Savar on Friday night with the help of Savar Thana police.

Earlier, Bera Thana police arrested four people and Rajbari Thana police arrested three in connection with the killings.

Three police personnel--SI Kafil Uddin, Nayek Abdul Waheed and Constable Shafique Ahmed of Dhalarchar police camp--were shot dead by outlaws in Bera upazila on July 20.
