DHAKA: Security measures have been beefed up across the capital to avert any untoward situation centering the death of war criminal and former Jamaat Ameer Ghulam Azam.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police personnel were deployed in the key points of the capital from Friday morning, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and RAB sources confirmed banglanews.
Additional law enforcers were seen in city’s Moghbazar, Ramna, Kakrail, Paltan, Baitul Mokarram, High Court and Press Club areas.
Special patrol teams of police and RAB were also seen plying in important areas of Dhaka.
Moreover, a tight security blanket was thrown over the city as some Islamic organizations called shutdown for Sunday protesting the speech of former minister Latif Siddique demeaning hajj and Tabligh Jamaat.
Police are on alert position in vital places of Dhaka to keep the law and order under control, said DMP Deputy Police Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.
RAB Media Wing Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan told banglanews that the law and order of the country is normal and RAB personnel are alert and have adopted all kinds of measures to ensure public safety in the city.
