AL expels Latif Siddique

DHAKA: Ruling Awami League on Friday expelled recently sacked Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddique from the party permanently.

The decision came from a party executive committee meeting that was presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of Awami League.

AL general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam disclosed the matter to journalists.

Abdul Latif Siddique was recently sacked from cabinet and the presidium of ruling Awami League, for his derogatory remarks on hajj, Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and Tablighi Jamaat in New York on September 29.

Earlier on October 14, AL served a notice to Latif Siddique asking why he would not be expelled from the party permanently.
