AL leader killed in Bogra

BOGRA: A local Awami League leader was chopped and shot dead by miscreants at Anandabazar area in the Sadar upazila on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Moazzem Hossain, 55, vice-president of Ward-7 of Sakharia Union Awami League of the Sadar upazila.

Wishing anonymity, two local businessmen and an AL leader told banglanews that Moazzem Hossain was returning home along with 10-12 others after taking tea in local shop.

During the time, the companions of Moazzem Hossain fled as a gang of 8-10 miscreants shot indiscriminately towards them, leaving Moazzem Hossain injured critically, they added.

Local people admitted Moazzem to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead around 9:00pm.

Senior Assistant Supretintendent of Police Mohammad Nazir told banglanews that Moazzem Hossain was killed due to a clash over establishing supremacy.
