COMILLA: Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists blasted here a dozen of cocktails at Chauddagram bazaar on Monday.

Sources told banglanews that the upazila Jamaat unit along with its student wing organized a demonstration protesting the Supreme Court’s upholding of the death sentence of Jamaat assistant secretary general Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.

A group of local traders, including Emdad and Delwar, said that the Jamaat-Shibir men hurled the cocktails from a procession while it was passing the bazaar area.

However, Chauddagram Thana Sub-Inspector (Investigation) refused the blasts of cocktails and claimed that those were nothing but firecrackers.

But after being informed, police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control over firing 40 rubber bullets, he added.
