JHALOKHATHI: A drug addict son allegedly killed his father as he refused to give him money for drugs at Rola village under Rajapur upazila on Monday morning.

The victim was identified as Sirajul Hawlader, 55, of the area. The killer son is Shahjahan Hawlader.

Deceased’s wife said that her husband begged door to door for livelihood and hardly could survive well.

Victim’s elder son Jamal said that Shahjahan is a drug addict and he often demanded money from his father.

However, like other days, Shahjahan demanded money from his father at 7:30 in the morning. As Sirajul Hawlader refused to give him money, he was locked into an altercation with his father, Jamal added.

At one stage of the altercation, Shajahan hit indiscriminately with a solid wooden piece on his father’s head and fled the scene, leaving Sirajul injured critically.

He was rushed to Rajapur Health Complex where on duty doctor declared the ill fated father dead.

The body was sent to Jhalokathi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge of Rajapur Thana Masuduzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
