Unnatural death of ex-MP Tipu’s daughter-in-law

DHAKA: Former lawmaker Khan Tipu Sultan’s daughter-in-law Shamrukh Mehjabeen (26) has died unnaturally on Thursday.

The victim’s father Nurul Islam alleged that she was beaten to death. However, Tipu Sultan’s family claimed that she had committed suicide.

It is said that Mehjabeen, at 2:30pm in the day, got admitted to Central Hospital in city’s Dhanmondi area where the on-duty doctor pronounced her dead.

It was claimed that the victim had committed suicide by wrapping ‘orna’ (a piece of cloth) around her neck at their house on Road 6 at Dhanmondi.

Mehjabeen’s husband, Humayun Sultan, is the elder son of Khan Tipu Sultan, former MP from Jessore-5.
